Alethea Fuller

I am a strategic public service leader, executive coach, and board member, with a longstanding commitment to fairness, belonging and creating better outcomes for people and communities. Throughout my career, I have worked where leadership, strategy, and social impact meet by bringing people together, asking the questions that matter and helping turn good intentions into meaningful change.

My experience covers public service, policing and community safety, violence prevention, strategic commissioning, victim services, partnership working, governance and organisational change. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that communities have a meaningful voice in the decisions that affect them and that lived experience is treated as an essential part of good leadership and effective public services.

I currently serve as Deputy Chief Executive to the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner. In this role, I provide strategic leadership and advice within a complex and highly accountable environment, working across policing, local government, health, criminal justice and the voluntary and community sector. I also support the Commissioner in holding the Chief Constable to account and lead work focused on prevention, fairness, partnership and public value.

Alongside my public service career, I am a leadership and confidence coach, which means that I support people to think more clearly, recognise the value they bring and lead with greater confidence and authenticity. I am especially interested in the often-unspoken challenges that accompany increased responsibility, transition and visibility in senior leadership.

My academic background includes a BSc in Law, a Master’s in Public Management and Leadership from the University of Birmingham, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Coaching, awarded with Merit. Together, these reflect the different dimensions of my work: rigorous thinking, effective leadership and a deep interest in people and their potential.

I am a Trustee and member of the Board of Finham Park Multi-Academy Trust, where I also serve on the Standards Committee. Before this, I spent 15 years as a school governor, including five years as Chair of Governors at Finham Park School. I am also a former Director of Coventry Caribbean Association, reflecting my longstanding connection to Coventry’s African Caribbean community and my belief in the importance of trusted, community-led organisations.

I am the proud mother of two daughters, one a manager within financial services and the other a qualified solicitor. Raising them as a single mother to believe in themselves and feel able to take on the world remains one of my proudest achievements.

At the heart of everything I do is a belief in people and possibility: helping to create fairer systems, stronger organisations and the conditions in which individuals and communities can thrive. Outside work, I enjoy reading, keeping active and spending time with the people who matter most to me.
